Being inspired by the spirit of St. Dominic de Guzman, and both the International Young Catholic Students (IYCS) as well as the Vietnamese Eucharistic Youth Movement (VEYM).
PRAY - PRAISE - PREACH
St. Joseph's Youth Group (a.k.a. "JYG"), which is a youth group of St. Joseph's Parish, Vancouver, BC is made up of the young to serve the young. Living in a society with so many conflicting messages, we come together to walk side by side in order to safeguard one another in the journey of faith. In order to achieve this end, we strive hard to eagerly practice daily prayer, to happily praise the Lord Our God, and to joyfully witness Christ and the love of God to the youth through the medium of youth.
As part of being under inspiration of the IYCS, the JYG aimed the formation of its members at transforming themselves and the society they live in, in the light of the Gospel. This extends their horizon of activities in the formation, which begins from within a member himself and then reaches out ranging from parish, work place, school yard, and then the world at large. Through all activities, it is through a "REVIEW OF LIFE" process using the method of "SEE-JUDGE-ACT" that one can discover God more deeply in life. In addition, as being also inspired by the VEYM, it also recognizes there is no other place that one can be united deeper to Christ by devoting to the Eucharist. Thus, the formation of the JYG members are much focused around the Eucharist, which is the locus for all other formative elements. We believe that in addition to intectual and physical training at school, as one is spiritually through this formative process, one can become more wholisticly formed as a Christian.
